SWTOR will cater for the middle-ground
PCGamer.com yesterday published an article in which Owen Hill (reporter for PCG) had a brief chance to chat to James Ohlen (Game Director @ Bioware for SWTOR):
James Ohlen wrote:“We knew with the light side/dark side system that there would be an urge, especially for min maxers, to go completely light side or dark side. It happened in Knights of the Old Republic back in 2003. We knew it was going to happen,”
When questioned about the middle ground - the grey area more suited for the Shadow Knights, Jame's responded:
James Ohlen wrote:“We have a system for people who want to stay more in the middle. But that’s something coming up in a later release,”
James Ohlen wrote:“It’ll let you play a “Gray Jedi”. Basically you don’t need to go to the extreme to get rewarded. You can have a different playstyle. We like to call it the “Gray Jedi” playstyle. That’s coming in a future piece of content.”
So, ladies and gents, if your thinking of grinding out light/darkside points to get better gear before you hit max level, perhaps wait and see if this patch is released before you max out. I know I'll certainly grind my way into gray when the time arises.
SWTOR oracles expect it'll be part of "Act 2" - the next installment in SWTOR that'll no doubt bring in new races, warzones, quests, more levels and of course, that all important story line continuation. I for one, can't wait.
